UET Lahore Faisalabad Campus Hosts Two Mega Events on Textile Sustainability:
8th International Conference on Sustainable Textile 2025 & All Pakistan Textile Sustainability Student Competition 2025
The Department of Textile Engineering, University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore, Faisalabad Campus organized two major events dedicated to textile sustainability on 10th December 2025. The events were held under the Chief Patronship of Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, Vice Chancellor UET Lahore, and under the Convenership of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mohsin, Campus Coordinator and Chairman, Department of Textile Engineering, Faisalabad Campus.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, Vice Chancellor UET Lahore and Chief Patron of ICST 2025, emphasized that the significance of these events extends far beyond showcasing innovation in the textile sector. He highlighted the collective responsibility of academia and industry to address global challenges such as climate change, resource depletion, and the need for socially responsible manufacturing. He added that this conference reflects UET’s commitment to developing solutions aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and strengthening UET’s support for Pakistan’s textile sector.
1. 8th International Conference on Sustainable Textile (ICST) 2025
The conference featured 15 distinguished international keynote speakers and 8 national experts in textile sustainability. Notable speakers included:

Mr. Karl Borgschulze, CSI, Germany
Dr. Jun Chen, University of California, USA
Dr. Xiong, Shinshu University, Japan
Dr. Mattia Bartoli, CSFT Torino, Italy
Dr. Aminoddin Haji, Yazd University, Iran
Prof. Dr. Wakil Shahzad, Northumbria University, UK
Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karahan, Uludag University, Turkey
Prof. Dr. Elsayed Ahmed Elnashar, Kaferelsheikh University, Egypt
Mr. Mesay Dubale Tigabu, Donghua University, China
Dr. Alberto Saccavini, Milano Institute, Italy
And several other leading international researchers.
National experts including Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mohsin, Dr. Nabeel Amin (Ministry of Commerce), Prof. Dr. Mumtaz Hasan Malik (UMT), Mr. Aamir Zulfiqar (Ibrahim Fibres), and Dr. Shafiq Ahmad (BCI Global Operations) shared valuable insights with the participants.
The conference was attended by more than 1000 representatives from Pakistan’s top textile mills and academic institutions.
2. All Pakistan Textile Sustainability Student Competition 2025
Held alongside the conference, the nationwide student competition showcased over 500 shortlisted sustainability projects submitted by students from across the country. The top ten projects were announced at the closing ceremony, with winners receiving shields and prizes in recognition of their innovative contributions.

The Annual International Conference on Sustainable Textile and the Textile Sustainability Student Competition represent the largest national platforms dedicated to sustainability in the textile sector. These initiatives reflect the long-term commitment of UET Lahore and its Textile Engineering Department to support the transformation of Pakistan’s textile industry into a more sustainable, innovative, and globally competitive sector.
