Annual Iftar Dinner Strengthens Industry-Academia Bonds at UET Lahore
The Department of Polymer & Process Engineering, UET Lahore, hosted its Annual Iftar Dinner at the UET Staff Club on 14 th March 2025, bringing together industry leaders, alumni, and students for an evening of networking and collaboration. Around 120 students participated in the event along with 15 industrial CEOs and around 20 Alumni. The event was started with the recitation of Holy Quran and a heartfelt Naat presented by the students.
Chairman of the Department, Professor Dr. Asif Ali Qaiser welcomed guests and students, emphasizing the importance of industry-academia partnerships in driving innovation and professional growth. A key highlight of the event was the closing ceremony of POLYMANIA (Annual Sports of Polymer Depart. UET), where winning teams received certificates and shields from the Chairman, Registrar UET and distinguished industry leaders. Following the Iftar and dinner, students engaged in insightful discussions with industry pioneers, gaining valuable perspectives on emerging trends and career opportunities.

The panel included Zia Haider Naqi (CEO, SPEL), Usama Usman (CEO, Alpha Rubbers & Plastics), Ali Chaudhry (Marketing Director, GM Cables & Pipes), Majid Hameed (Head of Sales, Jilani Plastics), Aziz Ahmad (CEO, Haizum Hi-Tech Textiles), Mr. Shehzad Faheem (Habib Plastics), Syed Adnan Ali (CEO, SJ Cheme Corp.), Syed Farhan Ali (CEO, Hina Enterprises), and Muhammad Zaghum Riaz (GM Technical, Engro Polymer). Their expertise and experience provided students with a deeper understanding of the evolving landscape of the polymer and plastics industry. The evening concluded with a group photograph, reinforcing the department’s commitment to strengthening industry-academia ties for effective networking.
