A meaningful seminar titled "Change Yourself" was organized by UET Islamic Society in Chemical Hall, University of Engineering and Technology Lahore (New Campus). A large number of students attended the program.

The well-known speaker of the Youth Club, Maghera Luqman and Advisor of the Islamic Society, Dr. Rana Tanveer Qasim addressed the event in the light of Quran and Sunnah.

Maghera Luqman's address: "Change starts from within yourself"

Mughira Luqman addressing the youth in an influential speech and said that the Quran invites man for internal revolution.

He quoted the verse of Surah Al-Raad "إِنَّ اللّ واهَ لَا يُ ،َيِّرُ مَا بِقَوْم کا حَتَّى سور يُ سورِيّرُوا مَأَنْفُسِهِمْ" saying that true change comes when a person decides to change his thinking, intention and character.

He said that today's youth are running after external changes in the age of modern technology, but Islamic teachings give us a message of internal reform. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said:

“In the body there is one piece of meat, if it is corrected, the whole body is corrected, that is the heart.”
The Prophet (PBUH) said: One of the things that people have gained from the prophetic instructions is that when you have no modesty, do whatever you want! "

Mughira Luqman advised students to clarify their purpose in life, correct their morals, and make prayer, charity, piety, service to people and good behavior the motto in their daily lives.

He said that if young people change themselves, the society will change automatically.

📖 Dr. Rana Tanveer Qasim's address: "Self-accountability is the beginning of the reform of the Ummah"

Dr. Rana Tanveer Qasim said in his speech that "change yourself" is actually a Quranic invitation for reform.

He said that the Qur'an commands us to practice self-training, repentance, seeking forgiveness and kindness repeatedly.

He quoted the verse of Surah Al-Hashr "وَلْتَنْ انہوںُرْ نَفْس نے مَّا قَدَّمَتْ لِ َِد احت" saying that every believer should think about his tomorrow — this is the meaning of self-accountability.

They said the biggest crisis today is the crisis of character, knowledge is increasing but morals are decreasing.

Islam gives us a message of not only academic but moral and spiritual building.

He advised the youth to look within themselves, be beneficial to their parents, teachers and society instead of getting lost in the noise of social media.

At the end, they said that "changing oneself" is actually the Sunnah of the Prophets - Prophet Ibrahim, Prophet Moses, and Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم all first adjusted themselves and their characters, then revolutionized the world. They also explained the aims and objectives of society.

Dr. Tanveer Qasim prayed that Allah Almighty grants us the ability to improve ourselves and become a source of good for others.
