Green Wall and Tree Plantation Campaign Launched at UET Lahore
The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore has officially launched the Green Wall and Tree Plantation Campaign under the Prime Minister Green Youth Movement. The inauguration ceremony took place at the Department of Environmental Engineering and Research (IEER), where Mr. Fahad Shahbaz, the focal person of the Prime Minister Youth Program Punjab, graced the event. He initiated the tree plantation campaign by planting a sapling in his name.
Following this, the Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Nasir Hayat, Registrar Muhammad Asif, PRO Dr. Tanveer Qasim, Chairman of Environmental Engineering Dr. Amir Akhlaq, and other faculty members joined the campaign by planting saplings with their names. As part of this campaign, numerous saplings will be planted throughout the university's premises.
The goal of the initiative is to make the campus greener and provide a healthy environment for students. During his address, Dr. Nasir Hayat emphasized the growing threat of global warming and highlighted the crucial role that trees play in improving the environment and combating heatwaves. He stated that by planting a large number of trees, we can mitigate the risks of global warming.
Speaking to the students at the Green Movement seminar, Mr. Fahad Shahbaz remarked that by planting trees, we can address the global issues of climate change. He mentioned that similar activities are being organized at other universities as well. He also issued special instructions to students to not only take care of the existing plants and trees on campus but also ensure the increase in their number.
