Inaugural Ceremony of MSc Hydropower Engineering Program at CEWRE UET Lahore
The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore hosted the inaugural ceremony of the MSc Hydropower Engineering Program at its Center of Excellence in Water Resources Engineering (CEWRE). The program was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Dr. Shahid Munir and the chief guest, Chairman WAPDA Lt. Gen. Sajjad Ghani.
Under the MSc Hydropower Engineering Program, 25 WAPDA officers will pursue their MSc degrees from UET, enabling them to acquire advanced skills in hydropower. The collaboration between WAPDA and UET aims to enhance the expertise and knowledge of WAPDA employees, contributing to the organization's growth and success.
Following the inaugural ceremony, the WAPDA Chairman, along with the Vice Chancellor and other faculty members, visited SPARCO and Nanotechnology Labs at UET. He praised the state-of-the-art laboratories and the use of advanced machinery at the university research centers. The event was attended by Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nasir Hayat, Chairman CEWRE, Deans, and Heads of various departments.
During his address, the WAPDA Chairman emphasized the importance of hydropower in the under-construction dams and highlighted the role of students enrolled in the program in alleviating the power crisis. He also acknowledged the significant contribution of UET engineers to the development of Pakistan, expressing confidence that this progress will continue under the leadership of Dr. Shahid Munir. Furthermore, he lauded Dr. Shahid Munir's vision and efforts for the advancement and stability of UET.
