Inauguration of Materials Chemistry Laboratory at UET Lahore
The Materials Chemistry Laboratory at the Department of Chemistry, University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore, was inaugurated by the Worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, on October 28, 2025.
The laboratory has been established under the prestigious Grand Challenge Fund (GCF) program, jointly funded by the World Bank Group and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, with a total project funding of PKR 18.9 million.
Led by Principal Investigator Dr. Syed Mazhar Shah and Co-Principal Investigator Prof. Dr. Farhat Yasmeen, the dedicated project team has successfully developed molecular sieves and fabricated oxygen concentrators for clinical applications—a remarkable achievement in the field of materials chemistry and applied health science.
The newly established facility will serve as a hub for advanced research and innovation in functional materials, enabling the local development of high-performance materials.
Worthy Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir commended the project team for their exceptional scientific contributions and leadership.
The event was attended by faculty members, researchers, and students, who lauded the visionary leadership of the Vice Chancellor and the project team’s commitment to transforming innovative research into practical solutions for societal benefit.
