During the ceremony, the Vice Chancellor and the Deans were briefed about the aims and objectives of the Lab by its three Directors — Ms. Alia Naushahi, Ms. Sadia Gondal (Assistant Professors, Humanities Department), and Dr. Rabia Nazir (Associate Professor, Electrical Engineering Department). It was also presented that, establishing this lab was the collective concept and idea of Dr. Muhammad Salman Fakhar (Assistant Professor, Electrical Engineering Department), Ms. Alia Naushahi and Ms. Sadia Gondal.

Dr. Muhammad Salman Fakhar also presented on the fundraising efforts and local financial support provided by the Directors themselves, which made the development of the Lab possible.

The Humanities-Tech Lab represents a pioneering interdisciplinary initiative that seeks to integrate arts, literature, linguistics, religion, philosophy, musicology, and cultural studies with artificial intelligence, data science, and modern computational tools. The Lab aims to create a space where technology can be used not only to explore but also to digitally preserve, present, and propagate the rich intellectual, artistic, and spiritual traditions of humanity — with a special emphasis on the Muslim scholarship and heritage of the past 1500 years.

Through digital content creation, archiving, and interactive dissemination, the Lab will facilitate new ways of engaging with classical and contemporary humanistic thought. The Lab will also serve as a publishing house, fostering scholarly and creative works that bridge the gap between technology and the humanities.

Proudly launched as an All-Women Lead Lab of UET Lahore, this initiative stands as a milestone in promoting gender-inclusive academic leadership and interdisciplinary collaboration within the University.

The Vice Chancellor appreciated the vision and efforts of the Directors and Dr. Muhammad Salman Fakhar, and expressed gratitude to the industry partners for their generous contributions and continued support toward the establishment of this unique research space.
