The Department of Polymer and Process Engineering (PPE), UET Lahore, in collaboration with Pakistan Plastic Manufacturers Association (PPMA), hosted industry-academia seminar on 18 February in Transportation Seminar Hall. The gathering brought together industry leaders, academic professionals, and students to discuss advancements in polymer materials and sustainable polymer processes. The session was formally inaugurated by Pro Vice Chancellor UET Prof. Dr. Nasir Hayat and Chairman PPMA Syed Nabeel Hashmi. Welcoming the guests, the Chairman, Department of Polymer and Process Engineering, Prof. Dr. Asif Ali Qaiser, reiterated Department’s commitment to foster innovation and strengthen industry-academia relationships.

The event featured a series of insightful presentations, starting with Mr. Atif Nawaz, Convener of the PPMA Standing Committee on Conferences and Seminars, who delivered an informative session on PPMA’s role in shaping the future of the plastic industry. Following this, Engr. Raja Omer Nawaz, Co- convener of the PPMA Standing Committee on Conferences and Seminars shared his expertise on polymer extrusion technology, industry challenges, and future trends, highlighting the crucial role of academia-industry collaboration.

In the concluding segment, Syed Nabeel Hashmi, Chairman PPMA, addressed the audience, shedding light on the advancements, challenges, and opportunities within the plastic and polymer industries. He emphasized the significance of sustainable manufacturing practices and industry-led research initiatives.

A dynamic Q&A session provided students an opportunity to engage with industry experts, gaining deeper insights into industry trends, career pathways, and technological advancements. To honor the contributions of the esteemed guests, a souvenir distribution ceremony was conducted, recognizing the invaluable efforts of industry leaders and academia in fostering meaningful collaborations. Concluding the event, Dr. Yasir Qayyum led an exclusive departmental visit, showcasing UET Lahore’s cutting-edge research facilities, laboratories, and ongoing projects in polymer and process engineering.

The visit provided an opportunity for industry professionals to explore potential collaborations in research and development.
