Protest Continues under UET Teaching Staff Association
The protest under the auspices of University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Teaching Staff Association (TSA) continues against the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR)'s decision to impose a 25% tax deduction on the salaries of teachers and researchers. Teachers gathered at Chowk Library holding placards inscribed with various slogans.
A key meeting, chaired by TSA President Dr. Muhammad Shoaib, was held to discuss the ongoing situation. The association decided to call a General Body meeting to determine the future course of action. During the meeting, TSA members expressed deep concern over the negative impact of this decision on teachers and researchers.
TSA President Dr. Shoaib stated that if the notification is not withdrawn, the protest will continue. TSA General Secretary Dr. Tanveer Qasim said this step would have severe financial repercussions for teachers and researchers, harming their economic well-being. He affirmed that the association is committed to protecting the legitimate rights of teachers and will continue its struggle until this unfair tax deduction is revoked. Participants in the meeting included Dr. Faheem Gohar Awan, Dr. Usman, Dr. Owais, Dr. Shumaila, Dr. Huda, Dr. Rizwana, and Dr. Muhammad Irfan Jalees.
