Quality Assurance & Accreditation Awareness Session at Department of Food Engineering and Biotechnology, UET New Campus

The Secretary National Agriculture Education Accreditation Council (NAEAC), Dr. Abdul Ghaffar conducted an Accreditation Awareness and Quality Assurance session at the Department of Food Engineering and Biotechnology, UET New Campus (KSK) on December 4, 2025. The session aimed to familiarize faculty and students with NAEAC’s accreditation standards and the importance of quality assurance in higher education.
 
A thorough and insightful presentation on the UET’s historical significance, academic growth and facilities was delivered by Chairman of the Computer Science Department, Prof. Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Shahzad Asif and continued by Chairman of the Food Engineering and Biotechnology Department, Dr. Sikander Rafiq, who comprehensively presented the Secretary NAEAC with the department’s vision, academic excellence, research initiatives, and developmental progress. The visit also included meaningful faculty interactions, allowing the evaluators to engage directly with the teaching staff and gain a deeper understanding of the department’s academic strengths.
 
The Secretary NAEAC was then invited to give his awareness seminar on the forum. The proceedings formally began with the recitation of the Holy Quran. After the recitation, a brief introduction was given, followed by Dr. Abdul Ghaffar’s detailed presentation on “Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education.” He explained the basic standards and sub-standards that form the foundation of NAEAC’s accreditation criteria. Dr. Ghaffar also highlighted the significance of accreditation in improving academic quality, ensuring structured program development, and aligning universities with national benchmarks.
 
His presentation emphasized the role of quality assurance systems, curriculum strengthening, and continuous assessment in enhancing the overall performance of degree programs. He also discussed how accreditation drives long term institutional improvement. A highly engaging Question & Answer session followed, in which faculty members and students asked thoughtful questions related to accreditation requirements, program evaluation, and future expectations from NAEAC. Dr. Ghaffar responded comprehensively and appreciated the active participation of the audience. After the main session, a brief meeting was held in the Campus Coordinator’s Office, where administrative matters and broader accreditation guidelines were discussed. This meeting allowed for a more focused institutional level conversation regarding expectations from the university.
 
As a token of appreciation, a shield was presented to Dr. Abdul Ghaffar by the Campus Coordinator, Professor Dr. Shahid Imran and Head of the Food Engineering and Biotechnology Department, Professor Dr. Sikander Rafiq for his valuable time, insights, and contribution to the session. The closing remarks were given by Campus Coordinator, Professor Dr. Shahid Imran who again emphasized the significance of accreditation in assurance of high-quality education. He also showed his commitment for the incorporation of all quality standards required by the distinguished accreditation body in the university essentially in the department of Food Engineering and Biotechnology. He concluded the visit with a note of thanks, expressing gratitude to Dr. Abdul Ghaffar for the clarity and guidance he provided regarding accreditation procedures. The session proved highly informative and helped the campus better understand the steps required for future accreditation readiness.
