Rally held in UET Lahore on the occasion of Black Day - Solidarity with Kashmiri people and protest against Indian atrocities.
The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore observed Kashmir Black Day on October 27 to express solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir and to condemn Indian occupation and atrocities in the valley. A rally was organized on this occasion, led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir.
The rally started from the Vice Chancellor’s Office and concluded at the Auditorium Complex. A large number of faculty members, employees, and students participated enthusiastically. The participants carried placards inscribed with slogans in support of Kashmiri freedom and against Indian oppression, and raised passionate slogans for justice and peace in Kashmir.
Addressing the participants, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir said that peace in South Asia is deeply linked with the freedom of Kashmir. He stated that on October 27, 1947, India illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, and this unlawful occupation continues to this day. Since then, the people of Kashmir have been struggling for their right to self-determination, and hundreds of thousands have sacrificed their lives in pursuit of freedom — a struggle that continues even today.
Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir emphasized that the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people will not go in vain. He urged the United Nations to implement its resolutions on Kashmir and ensure a free and fair plebiscite so that the people of Kashmir can decide their future according to their will.
He further stated that the Kashmir issue is not confined to any one nation, race, or religion — it is a humanitarian issue that requires a united global response. “The sun of freedom will soon rise over Kashmir,” he added, reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri cause. Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir also paid tribute to the Pakistan Armed Forces for their sacrifices in ensuring national security and defending the homeland.
