Civil Engineering Department, UET Lahore arranged a seminar titled “Prepare for Thy Career, Thou Young Engineers” on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. The speaker of the event was Engr. Sohail Kibria. He is an alumnus of the Civil Engineering Department, UET Lahore and currently serving as Director Technical & QC, Pakistan Engineering Services.

Engr. Kibria is an eminent geotechnical engineer of Pakistan. He has more than forty years of teaching, research and professional experience in Pakistan and abroad. He has contributed to over 2000 projects in his professional career in different roles. He has worked on diverse engineering projects including nuclear power plants, irrigation and hydraulic works, dams, hydropower projects, highways, motorways, airports and bridges, etc.

Prof. Dr. Noor Muhammad Khan welcomed the guest and presented him with a bouquet. The speaker described different traits required for engineers to become successful in their professional careers such as technical knowledge, communication skills, interpersonal skills, conflict management, and leadership skills etc.

He also provided the guidelines for improvements in these essential attributes. The presentation was followed by a question & answer session. In the end, Prof. Dr. Noor Muhammad Khan gave concluding remarks and presented a shield to the guest. A large number of faculty members and students attended the seminar.
