UET Chemistry Department Inaugurates State-of-the-Art Model Seminar Hall with Alumni Support
The Department of Chemistry at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore unveiled its new, state-of-the-art Model Seminar Hall in a grand inauguration ceremony. This 6.5 Million Rupee transformation of a former classroom was generously funded by one of UET's own, Eng. Abid Wazir Khan, CEO of KIPS and a distinguished alumnus from the '83 Special Civil engineering batch.
The ceremony marked a significant milestone, drawing a host of distinguished guests. Worthy Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, gracing the event as Chief Guest, lauded the initiative in his keynote address. He congratulated the department on this major achievement and highlighted the vital role that such partnerships, especially from successful alumni, play in advancing academic infrastructure and fostering excellence.
Dr. Farhat Yasmeen, Chairperson of the Department of Chemistry, extended heartfelt thanks to Eng. Abid Wazir Khan for his visionary support. She emphasized that the new hall would "immeasurably enhance the academic and collaborative experience for students" and also expressed deep appreciation for the progressive and supportive leadership of the Vice Chancellor.
As the guest of honor, Eng. Abid Wazir Khan shared inspiring personal reflections from his own life and journey as a UET graduate, motivating students to aim for excellence. He was joined by Mr. Salman Maqsood, Managing Director of KIPS, who also addressed the gathering, sharing valuable insights and powerful words of motivation from his own professional journey.
The event's flawless execution was a testament to the dedication of the Ibne Hayyan Chemical Society. The society's president spoke on behalf of the student body, expressing profound gratitude to the CEO of KIPS and the department for providing a state-of-the-art facility that will serve as a hub for learning and community engagement.
The ceremony concluded with a formal shield distribution, honoring Eng. Abid Wazir Khan for his generous and impactful contribution to his alma mater. This new seminar hall is more than just a renovated space; it stands as a symbol of commitment to innovation and academic excellence, further solidifying the department's reputation as a premier hub for learning and research.
