UET Lahore Architecture Department Hosts Seminar on Affordable Housing in Collaboration with PHATA
The Department of Architecture, UET Lahore, in collaboration with the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA), organized a seminar titled “Affordable Housing Futures: Policy and Design for Equitable Living” on Tuesday, 28th October 2025.
Mr. Kh. M. Sikandar Zishan, Director General PHATA, delivered the keynote address, joined by representatives from the Akhuwat Foundation and Zaamin Group. Prof. Dr. Rizwan Hameed, Dean Faculty of Architecture & Planning, and Dr. Mamuna Iqbal, Assistant Professor, Department of Architecture, also participated as panelists.
The seminar highlighted key governmental initiatives addressing Punjab’s housing challenges and explored policy and design strategies for equitable living. Dr. Munazzah Akhtar, Chairperson, Department of Architecture, thanked the DG PHATA for his visionary insights and valuable contributions to this important initiative.
Following the seminar, the distinguished guests met with the Worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir (TI), to discuss future collaborative avenues between UET Lahore and PHATA aimed at promoting sustainable housing solutions across Punjab.
