The Department of Chemistry at the University of Engineering and Technology Lahore (UET Lahore), under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Farhat Yasmeen, hosted a prestigious event today to celebrate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. The event marked a powerful gathering of prominent educators, scientists, and students who honored the remarkable contributions of women and girls in the world of science. Dr. Iqra Muneer, the event's host, opened the ceremony by welcoming attendees and sharing the significance of the day. She emphasized the ongoing efforts needed to promote gender equality in science and encouraged young women to pursue their dreams without limitations.

The event featured several significant speeches and acknowledgments, including from the esteemed Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, Vice Chancellor of UET Lahore, who shared his thoughts on the importance of uplifting women in education and the sciences. His address was followed by the presentation of souvenirs to the distinguished Guest of Honors: Prof. Dr. Shazia Bashir, Vice Chancellor of Government College Women University Sialkot, Dr. Asma Saeed, Chief Scientific Officer of PCSIR, Dr. Amara Dar, Assistant Professor at the University of Punjab, and Dr. Uzma Hira, Assistant Professor at the University of Punjab. Prof. Dr. Shazia Bashir was recognized for her outstanding leadership in academia and her pioneering role as the first-ever female Director of the Institute of Physics and Vice Chancellor of Government College University Lahore.

Dr. Asma Saeed, an award-winning scientist with over 70 published research papers, was acknowledged for her contributions to food and biotechnology. Dr. Uzma Hira, known for her innovative research in renewable energy materials, and Dr. Amara Dar, a passionate advocate for women in STEM, were also celebrated for their inspiring work in the scientific community. Chairperson Dr. Farhat expressed gratitude to all the speakers and participants and reiterated the importance of collaboration and innovation in advancing the field of science and empowering women and girls.
