UET Lahore and CI-UAF Renew Agreement for Confucius Set to Strengthen Chinese Language Education

The University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Lahore, and the Confucius Institute at the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (CI-UAF) have officially renewed the Agreement for the Confucius Set at UET, reaffirming their commitment to advancing Chinese language education, cultural exchange, and academic collaboration between Pakistan and China.
 
The Renewal Agreement was signed by Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, Vice Chancellor, UET Lahore, and Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali, Vice Chancellor, University of Agriculture Faisalabad and Chairman, Board of Directors, CI-UAF. Senior officials including Dr. Saddam Hussain, Vice Chairman/Local Dean CI-UAF; Prof. Dr. Zhou Changming, Chinese Dean CI-UAF; and Dr. Muhammad Waqas, Director UA&EL, UET Lahore, also attended the ceremony as witnesses.
 
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir said that the renewal of the agreement reflects UET’s strong commitment to promoting foreign language learning and enhancing international cooperation. “The Confucius Set at UET has played an instrumental role in providing high-quality Chinese language education and fostering people-to-people linkages between Pakistan and China. We look forward to deepening this collaboration,” he added.
 
Under the renewed agreement, the Confucius Set will continue to offer Chinese language courses, teacher training, cultural exchange programs, and internationally recognized language proficiency tests such as HSK, HSKK, BCT, and YCT. The Set will operate as a non-profit educational unit jointly supported by UET and CI-UAF.
 
The agreement outlines enhanced academic, administrative, and financial mechanisms to ensure the smooth functioning of the Confucius Set. CI-UAF will provide qualified Chinese teachers, teaching materials, and access to standardized courses, while UET will provide office space, equipped classrooms, accommodation for teachers, and administrative support.
 
The renewed collaboration also aims to broaden opportunities for UET students, including access to Confucius Institute Scholarships and participation in cultural immersion programs in China.
 
Both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening Pak-China academic and cultural cooperation through sustained joint efforts in education, research, and exchange activities.
 
Dean Natural Sciences Professor Dr. Shahid Rafique, Director ORIC Professor Dr. Mohsin Ali Kazmi were also present on the occasion.
