Vice Chancellor University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore, Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir (TI), met with Ms. Nadia Shafiq, Senior Chief (Environment & Climate Change), Planning & Development Board, at her office. The meeting focused on the “Smog Gun” technology developed by UET — an innovative and effective solution aimed at combating air pollution and addressing smog-related issues.

 

Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir shared that a team of local experts and researchers at UET Lahore has designed the smog gun in a cost-effective and energy-efficient manner, which can play a vital role in reducing air pollution. He further stated that the adoption of this technology on a trial basis by government agencies could significantly help mitigate the effects of smog in urban areas.

Ms. Nadia Shafiq appreciated UET’s research-driven innovation and remarked that the Government of Punjab is keen to promote such scientific advancements at the policy level. She added that the Planning & Development Board would explore avenues of collaboration with UET to scale up and implement this technology on a larger scale.

 

Both sides agreed to strengthen mutual cooperation for environmental improvement and sustainable development initiatives.
